At right the second section of the sculpture is assembled over a steel frame. The repoussé surface of this part was textured by forming it on blocks of broken granite.

The partially finished first section sits on the assembly jig at the right of the photo.

The photographs above left show how the base was hewn from a five and a half ton block of granite. At right we have just roughed in the mating surface for the bronze section in the background and are in the process of drilling holes for the stainless steel mounting pins.
